Lactic acid

Lactic acid

What is Lactic acid?

Lactic acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) that naturally occurs in dairy products such as milk, yoghurt and cheese. An alternative to manual exfoliating scrubs, Lactic Acid is a natural exfoliant that has wondrous benefits for glowing, healthy looking skin.

What does Lactic acid do?

Over time, dead skin cells build up on the skin’s surface causing it to become dry, pores to become blocked and reducing the absorption and effectiveness of your daily skincare products, resulting in dull, rough and uneven skin.

Lactic Acid works by providing gentle exfoliation to remove dead skin cells on the upper layers of the skin and promoting cellular turnover to reveal a smoother, fresher and brighter layer of skin.

Lactic Acid is also a humectant which makes it excellent at retaining water in the skin for a soft and hydrated complexion.

Benefits of Lactic acid for your skin

As Lactic Acid sweeps away the dead skin cells, it penetrates the skin to help reduce the appearance of dark spots and discolouration, improve skin texture, minimise signs of ageing and prevent blemishes.

Used consistently, Lactic Acid can improve the overall appearance of your skin leaving your skin looking brighter, refreshed and rejuvenated.

  • Reduced appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation
  • Promotes cell renewal for smoother, brighter and radiant skin
  • Improved absorption of other products
  • Reduced size of enlarged pores and prevent breakouts
  • Retains moisture to refine, plump and nourish the complexion.

Is Lactic acid right for my skin?

Lactic Acid is suitable for all skin type and tones. Milder and less irritating than other AHA’s, such as Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid is more gentle on the skin, making it a better alternative for sensitive skin and less likely to cause irritation.

The Lactic Acid within the Fade Out formulas will gently remove dead skin cells each day, allowing for optimal absorption and benefits of the products.

Due to the nature of these exfoliants, you should avoid using other AHA products in conjunction with each other to prevent over exfoliation, which can result in redness and irritation, especially in sensitive skin.
